Experian Extends Agent Trust Verification Network to Fastly
Experian added Fastly to its Agent Trust ecosystem this week, a move announced July 24, 2026. The partnership is meant to help businesses verify AI agents and let them authorize transactions and run real-time trust assessments as autonomous commerce grows. Fastly's addition puts a major CDN and edge-compute provider inside a verification network that's trying to answer a basic question retailers and platforms now face daily: when a request arrives claiming to act on a customer's behalf, is there an actual verified human behind it, and is the agent authorized to do what it's asking to do.
This builds on Experian Agent Trust, which the company launched in April as what it called a framework establishing a secure, verifiable link between consumers and AI agents, bringing identity and accountability to AI-driven transactions. The stated problem is straightforward: as agents increasingly search and transact without a human directly present, businesses lose the ability to trust an action was actually sanctioned. Experian frames this as an extension of its existing fraud-prevention and identity-verification business, where it already helps clients avoid billions in annual fraud losses, applied now to a new class of non-human requesters.
What's notable isn't the announcement itself so much as the pattern it fits. In the past three months, Mastercard, Visa, Google, Entrust, Prove Identity, Proof (with its x401 protocol), and now Experian have all shipped some version of the same primitive: a way to cryptographically bind an AI agent's actions back to a verified human or organization, so a counterparty can decide whether to trust a request before acting on it. Entrust's own framing, from its mid-July Agentic AI Trust Accelerator launch, is blunt about why this is urgent — enterprises lack a way to establish who authorized an agent, what it's permitted to do, and how to prove that after the fact, and an IBM study it cites found 77% of CIOs and CISOs say AI adoption is already outpacing their governance capabilities.
None of these efforts interoperate yet. Each vendor is building its own trust anchor — a card network token, a signed credential, a bureau-run verification service — and none has emerged as a shared standard the way DNS or X.509 certificates did for earlier trust problems. The Experian-Fastly deal adds infrastructure reach (Fastly's edge network sits in front of a large share of web traffic) to Experian's identity data, which matters practically: verification has to happen at the point where a request first lands, not after the fact. Whether these separate networks converge or stay balkanized by vendor is the open question worth tracking as more of them announce partners.
